ASIAN MORTGAGE MARKET REPRESENTATIVES PLANTED TREES AND CONTRIBUTED TO THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE

Approximately 40 representatives from ASMMA member countries, including Mongolia, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Uzbekistan, participated in the conference. The delegates discussed future trends in the development of secondary mortgage markets and explored pathways toward more people-centered and environmentally sustainable growth.

The Asian region is home to more than half of the world's population, and this figure is expected to continue growing rapidly. Behind this demographic trend lies an increasing demand for affordable, high-quality housing that meets the needs of homebuyers.uploaded picture

On the second day of the conference, delegates traveled to Terelj and participated in a tree-planting activity, contributing to Mongolia's national “Billion Tree” movement. The construction, urban development, and housing sectors have an important role to play in addressing climate change, and the participants chose one of the simplest yet most effective actions—planting trees—to demonstrate their commitment.

The tree-planting event was jointly organized by the Billion Tree Fund and MIK LLC. Delegates planted 1.5-meter-tall spruce trees cultivated at the AgroForest LLC nursery, following the guidance and technical recommendations of professional forestry engineers, uniting under the shared goal of creating a greener future.

Today, climate change is compelling the housing sector worldwide to become greener, more energy-efficient, and more resilient to natural disasters. As a result, countries are facing new challenges and opportunities. In this evolving landscape, lessons learned from one country can help accelerate sustainable development in another.

The core value of ASMMA lies not only in information sharing but also in fostering collaboration, exchanging knowledge, and exploring new opportunities among its member countries. Through this regional conference, participants strengthened their cooperation and sought innovative solutions for the future of the mortgage and housing sectors.

The Association currently brings together ten countries across Asia. The Mongolian Mortgage Corporation (MIK) was one of its founding members and continues to play a leading role within the organization. Mr. B. Gantulga, Chief Executive Officer of MIK LLC, is serving as Chair of ASMMA for the 2025–2026 term.
